A Smoke and Mirrors Styled Wedding Shoot

Smoke and Mirrors wedding table sign

Today’s styled wedding shoot is something a little different. Melanie from Cranberry Blue Weddings and Events styled this fantastic ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ shoot, which was photographed by wedding photographer Steve Shipman.

We love the way Melanie has created such a a spectacular visual display with the beautiful tablescape, and The Langham Hotel provided the perfect setting for the shoot.

“I absolutely love the private dining room at The Langham in London, and I’ve always felt this would provide the perfect backdrop to an elegant and inspirational wedding. So, I decided to team up with some amazing suppliers to create an inspirational shoot.

“The pink interior provided the starting point for the styling, and the inspiration then grew around the title ‘Smoke and Mirrors’.  The focus was on the table set up and the details such as the cake, stationery, reception drinks, sweet table, accessories and flowers. We used a colour palette of different tones of pink mixed with pewter and silver, and included some quirky touches.”

A Boho, Earth Child Bridal Shoot

Boho bride with flower crown

It’s not often we are sent a shoot that has taken place throughout the whole day, resulting in amazing pictures from the daytime sky right through until sunset. For this amazing boho styled shoot, the photographer Phil Drinkwater has done an amazing job capturing the elegance of the lighting.

This shoot has such a romantic yet whimsical feel, which is what Claire Salter and the team behind the shoot wanted to portray.

Claire told us “To be honest the shoot evolved around the gorgeous, footless shoes, designed by Arianna Tiara. I just love these and wanted to do a hippy, bohemian styled shoot, where the bride is a free spirit, earth child.”

We hope you love this Boho, Earth Child bridal shoot as much as us…

“The story behind the shoot was to create a boho, earth child style bride. The woodland/meadow setting provided a beautiful, natural backdrop which took our girl from the late afternoon sunshine to a candlelit evening. Tea lights in jam jars, ribbons catching the breeze, and a delicate lace teepee set the scene.

“I created hair accessories that echoed her surroundings, and I wanted to create pieces which would give the impression they were made from found materials. Using feathers and flowers gave an elegant but relaxed look.

“The baby’s breath crown is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to create a simple, romantic, bohemian feel, and silk flowers can be used alongside real ones to create beautiful floral crowns.” Lucy Hallard, Boss Model Management

“The hair and make-up needed to have a relaxed, boho feel. I gave Amy’s hair a soft wave without too much product, which allowed her hair to move freely in the gentle breeze.

“The make-up I chose was all about shades and tones that would bring together the warmness of Amy’s hair, the warmth of the summer evening sunshine, and the shade of the flower headdresses created by Lucy. I also used products with light reflective shimmer in them so they would catch the sunlight and warm tone, to bring out the blue in Amy’s eyes.” Claire Salter Bridal Make-Up and Hair Styling

“The story called for a wide variety of natural lighting options, from soft gentle backlighting of the afternoon, through late evening sunset across the trees, to actual sunset. Into the night, the scene was lit by an Icelight which gave a soft and gentle feel and was set to a similar brightness to the tealights. Amy was positioned and posed in natural environments to complement the natural material used throughout.” Phil Drinkwater

“The ‘Iris’ gown is very Victoriana looking with its detachable cape and intricate lace detail. The gown itself is made from two beautiful lace cloths that have been layered to give it its unusual look.

A Carnival Styled Wedding Shoot

carnival style wedding sweetie table

Back in June we featured a Vintage Styled Wedding Shoot at Pincents Manor, created by members of the Berkshire Wedding Community. In August they joined forces again to create this stunning carnival styled wedding shoot, which took place at Ufton Court in Berkshire. It was a shoot of “bright colours and lots of fun”, captured beautifully by Jo of Paper and Light Product Photography…

“When I think of carnivals I think of lots of colour and quirkiness, so I wanted to reflect this in the flowers. Luckily, pompom dahlias are the perfect shape and are available in a number of bright colours, so they were a definite! Sunflowers are so bright and cheerful that they had to be in there, and celosia is a very bright and quirky flower that looks a bit like coral or brains! Then I had to get some blue in too, so I chose eryngium for texture and got the bright blues in using ostrich feathers, and more quirkiness with peacock feathers. I introduced even more colour to the flowers by using jellybeans in the tall vases and covering jam jars with balloons, and finally, kept my children amused by getting them to stick brightly coloured tissue paper to some tall bottles!” Andrea Fearon of Andrea Fearon Floral Design

A Romantic, Wistful Wedding Shoot at Oakley Hall

Bride with large flower in hair

Today we have stunning pictures from a styled wedding shoot to share with you. The shoot took place at Oakley Hall, a magnificent 13th century mansion in Shropshire, and was organised and photographed by Jade Osborne Photography. Jade told us how the shoot came together…

“Oakley Hall wedding venue was the setting for the shoot. It is a stunning Queen Anne mansion set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, on the borders of Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire. It is actually home to the Fisher family, who hire it out as an exclusive venue for weddings. There are many windows, all of them very tall and symmetrical and, although the building is Queen Anne, it reminded me of a French chateau, which is where the inspiration for the theme came from.

“I knew I wanted to create a romantic, wistful feel to the shoot, and it’s on that basis the dresses were chosen from Sarah’s Wedding Exchange. Caroline was our beautiful bride for the day, and rather than focusing on lots of accessories for her, I wanted to focus more on the overall look and feel of the shoot, the venue, and keep accessories simple and to a minimum. The flowers in Caroline’s hair worked perfectly for this – simple but so effective – and keeping her hair down kept the look simple.

“The dining room is decorated in a gorgeous muted green, and the muted pinks chosen for the theme worked beautifully. Pretty Little Vintage Trio China Hire did an amazing job in coming up with some lovely china pieces and glasses, as well as the lace for the table and candelabra. Hattie Boo Designs created the elegant French themed stationery with coordinating pinks.

“The Little Velvet Cake Company designed the gorgeous 3 tier cake, with intricate lace detailing to echo the lace tablecloth, and the flowers on the cake coordinated with the flowers in the model’s hair.

“Cheerful Blooms did a wonderful job of keeping the look cohesive with muted pinks and cream roses, all reflecting the romantic feel of the shoot.”
