A Look Back at The Luxury Wedding Show London

On Saturday I visited the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, for a day out at The Luxury Wedding Show London.

This was the launch of The Luxury Wedding Show London and, although I was really looking forward to it, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I had hoped the show would be full of glamour and luxury… and it didn’t disappoint!

The Saatchi Gallery was full of the finest wedding suppliers, whose booths all looked amazing and really made this event the most exclusive wedding show in London. Exhibitors included some of The Wedding Community’s very own wedding suppliers: bridal wear boutique Luella’s Boudoir, top wedding cake designer Maisie Fantaisie, wedding cake and croquembouche specialist Le Papillon Patisserie, bridal wear designers Ellie Lowe and honeymoon specialists The Turquoise Holiday Company.

Visitors were able to enjoy a glass of Pommery Champagne whilst watching the bridal catwalk, and each visitor received a goodie bag full of gifts, from brands such as Dermalogica, Elemis, Pearl Drops and L’Oreal.

The bridal catwalk has to be the best I have ever seen. I sat in the front row and waited with great anticipation to see what the bridal designers have created for the coming season. WOW! That really is the best word to describe the dresses on the catwalk. From the timeless elegance of the Temperley London dresses, created with the finest fabrics, laces and silks, to the avant-garde couture dresses from Vivienne Westwood, including her bright red ‘Paperbag Frill Dress’. Other designers included Luella’s Boudoir, Ellie and Charlotte, David Fielden, Charlotte Casadejus, The State of Grace, Kula Tsurdiu, Candy Anthony, Vera Wang and many more. Each of the dresses was met with delighted whispers around the room.

Pierre Carr Teams Up with Elegant Resorts

Pierre Carr and Elegant Resorts

There are so many advantages to getting married abroad; gorgeous weather, chic and intimate ceremonies, and all the luxury of a destination resort.

Experts estimate that the average overseas ceremony can be yours for less than a third of the cost of a traditional wedding in the UK, even for a really exclusive event.

British brides can get more than just organisational help from Pierre Carr Exclusive Tropical Weddings, who have announced a partnership with Elegant Resorts.

Destination wedding ceremony

While Michelle Pierre-Carr and her staff will bring their unrivalled event management experience to your big day, you can now also use the exclusive address book of Elegant Resorts to help you find the ideal venue and arrange travel.

It’s the perfect partnership, pairing logistical detailing of foreign travel with the sprinkle of fairy dust that’s essential for a memorable wedding.

“When clients come to us, we can now offer the complete wedding package,” says Michelle. “From first-class travel to the perfect venue, event management and honeymoon bookings, we will make your wedding extra-special from start to finish.”

Both companies are established high-end brands, with gorgeous portfolios of prior events to give brides an idea of just what they can achieve. Whether you have a clear picture in your head of how you want your wedding to look, or are more open to suggestions, the Pierre Carr team will help make your dream a reality.

While they have many years of experience in organising weddings in the Caribbean and other idyllic destinations, Michelle and the team can also recreate the tropical experience in the UK should you wish to tie the knot in London. It’s a taste of a wedding abroad at home, and is ideal if you would love an overseas event but have family members who cannot travel.

So why pick Pierre Carr Tropical Weddings? Michelle Pierre-Carr is celebrating three years of successful events this January and is much more than a big-day co-ordinator – she’s also there to help with the little things, too.

“I got married four years ago and am now having children,” says Michelle. “I appreciate the milestones of a relationship and feel blessed to be planning weddings – it’s such an honour.”

Pierre Carr Tropical Weddings don’t want to offer a traditional ‘weddings abroad’ package. Their big days are more niche and focused on the individual, seeking out the perfect suppliers to make your big day special.

“You can go into a travel agent and buy a wedding off the shelf, or you can organise something that really reflects you as a couple. We have high quality suppliers for everything from the invitations and outfits to the entertainment and cake for the reception.”

Opening a consultation studio was the brain-child of Sangeeta Laudus, co-founder of Olivier Laudus, after a year of meeting with clients on an informal basis at Jordan Burr to show them pieces. Sangeeta says : “Clients welcomed the opportunity to be able to try different designs, particularly our hair accessories, and it was great being able to call on the expertise of the stylists in the salon to discuss bridal hair styles and which pieces work with different hair types. We also enjoyed having the opportunity to meet our clients and give them personal attention and advice which is very key to our business. Setting up a permanent base in the salon was the next logical step and we are really excited with our new venture and future collaborations with Jordan Burr.”

Chic, stylish and in-keeping with the Olivier Laudus brand’s contemporary feel, the studio is decorated with flock wallpaper with a black and cream colour scheme and provides a lovely backdrop for the consultations. So far it has been well received by brides. Consultations are by appointment, with evening and weekend meetings available.
