Creative Woodland Wedding Inspiration with Bluebells

Whenever I think of spring (which is quite a lot recently, as I’m longing for some spring air) I think of the bluebell woods. I love coming across a carpet of bluebells in woodland because, for me, it epitomises spring time. If you’re planning a spring wedding and want to have incredible pictures that capture the beauty of the season, a wedding venue that has a bluebell woodland is the perfect way. Think about the picture possibilities with a backdrop of a tranquil woodland surrounded with a sea of beautiful bluebells.

Today I have a really cool, creative shoot for you which showcases some fabulous ways to style a woodland wedding, plus some very creative ways to use bluebells.

The creative team made the most of the natural woodland surrounds. They created such a visual delight with the tablescape adorned with moss, an array of delicate blue and white flowers and a super-cute moss rabbit to add another flare of spring. The place settings are very natural with a ribbon-tied napkin laid with a small delphinium flower, a sprig of fern and of course, a bluebell – simple yet stylish. The white tiered wedding cake is also adorned with the pretty white and blue flowers to complement the styling.

The location for the shoot is the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding, so the team styled a beautiful ceremony set-up, complete with a stunning floral backdrop of large LOVE letters and a large willow circle. There is also a rustic arch with complementing floral arrangement. These ethereal styling ideas all work so beautifully against the bluebell woodland setting, giving a romantic bohemian vibe to the concept.

If you fancy a woodland wedding but are looking for more of a rock chick vibe, you will love the look the styling team created for the second bride in the shoot. These alternative wedding ideas include neon, leather jackets, and even an incredible living cape made from the forest fern and bluebells; totally unique!

Styled by Nadia Di Tullio, the fabulous HBA Photography has captured these woodland wedding ideas so perfectly, and I am delighted to share them with you. Enjoy!

Bluebell Woods

“The newly formed Field and Forest Weddings, run by Charlotte and Dave Garner, is a stunning location hosting woodland weddings, natural ceremonies and other events. They invited us to the beautiful village of Yoxall, in the Staffordshire countryside, to have a nosey round the stunning bluebell woods at this new wedding venue.

“Have you ever seen a sea of bluebells? It was stunning and the perfect place for some dreamy wedding photos. We are lucky to know some very talented and lovely people within our industry, and they were all happy to contribute to our ideas.”

Bride and groom sitting at wedding table in woodland setting for A Midsummer Night's Dream wedding shoot

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Inspired Wedding Styling

Today I have something a little different for you, A Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired wedding styling ideas, with a fairyland concept. In the Shakespeare play, one of the characters is Titania, queen of the fairies, and this is where the vision of creating a fairyland came from.

This wedding styling is all about creating an enchanting fairyland filled with green moss, lush floral arrangements and whimsical touches. I love the colour palette of green, gold, rose blush and pops of darker plum and berry tones.

Using the woods for the ethereal fairyland setting worked so well. I love the suspended floral arrangements and delicate glass sun catchers dotted about.

For this shoot the team styled the most incredible pièce de résistance… a moss-covered table. They decorated the table with stunning floral arrangements, fruits and berries, and pretty place settings with oak slice chargers, pretty china and the most unusual twig-look cutlery.

The ‘fairy-esque’ bride looked amazing in a stunning lace wedding dress with delicate long sleeves worn over a pink under-slip. I love the large multicoloured butterfly and dragonfly tiara, perfect for the fairyland feel.

As well as her incredible wedding dress, the bride has such a fabulous bridal bouquet full of gorgeous blush-coloured blooms surrounded by greenery – you’ve gotta love an oversized bridal bouquet!

Whether you are looking for inspiration for a wedding based on your favourite Shakespeare play, an outdoor or woodland wedding, or just some ethereal wedding ideas, you will love these.

A big thank you to LeeYen Photography for sharing these amazing pictures.

Fairyland

“The seduction and magic of love is truly like a fairyland. Shakespeare wrote the greatest love stories of all time, and one of the most magical and uniquely different is the story of the Fairy Queen Titania and Oberon. Taking that magical, woodsy, ethereal fairyland and infusing it into A Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired wedding styling is a match made in heaven!

Beauty and the Beast Inspired Wedding Styling

Beauty and the Beast, the new Disney film, is so much more than just a movie. It’s a phenomenon, and the most incredible inspiration for wedding styling.

The fairytale love story of Beauty and the Beast is so captivating, and has become many people’s all-time favourite Disney film (it’s mine, is it yours too?). If you love it too, there are so many elements of the film and the design you can incorporate into your wedding. I’m not saying full-on Beauty and the Beast décor with items from the Disney Store and a yellow dress (unless of course this is your thing). Just subtle, fabulous details.

The creative team behind this Beauty and the Beast wedding shoot created woodland wedding styling using elements from the film to enhance the look. They brought the dark woodland setting to life with red roses, pewter décor and a beautiful white Ian Stuart ballgown wedding dress.

Even if you don’t fancy a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding, these styling ideas provide beautiful inspiration. I love the gold drip wedding cake topped with meringues (it looks so good!), and the red rose bridal crown is perfect for an autumn or winter wedding.

‘Be our guest’ and step this way to enjoy the glory of this Beauty and the Beast wedding styling…

Wonderful Love Story

“The inspiration behind this elegant woodland shoot was my favourite Disney film of all time, Beauty and the Beast”. With the film released in March, I felt sure that it would inspire many couples to incorporate elements of this wonderful love story into their wedding day.

“I therefore set about planning a shoot that would show couples ways to introduce small hints of the film in an achievable way, via florals, props and their choice of colour palette.”

Still Nature Styled Wedding Shoot

We love the calmness that this styled shoot portrays. The natural elements of the beautiful woodland set the scene for this wonderful ‘Still Nature’ wedding inspiration.

With the simply yet chic styling One Stylish Day has shown that having an outdoor wedding can be calm, relaxing and ‘with nature’, and doesn’t have to include lots of props and styling details. Louise used natural elements that complemented that surroundings, minimal embellishments for the tablescape and an abundance of candles to give a warming, cosy feel in the forest.

Nicola Dixon Photography captured the beauty of this Still Nature wedding inspiration styled shoot and we are delighted to share the incredible pictures.

Natural Elements and Textures

“This shoot is a fresh take on an outdoor wedding, inspired by simple Scandi living. There’s a sense of oneness with the wild, and a calm, comfortable appreciation of nature.

“The woodland setting is undisturbed by a tablescape that feels like it belongs, and natural elements and textures add a quiet vitality to the scene. An undone quality runs through this scheme; dripping candles, casually laid linens and twiggy floral arrangements.”

Dramatic, Natural Backdrop

“Collections of logs and tree stumps work to create an outdoor ‘room’, and pillar candles of differing sizes provide the ambience. Garlands creep around trees as if they are growing there, and the repetition of vertical tree trunks into the distance creates a dramatic, natural backdrop.

“White stationery has hewn edges and perfectly placed black serif typography.”

“Spring has yet to reach the forest, and the colour palette reflects this stillness. White and warm grey reflects a sunless sky, and soft, dull metallic finishes reflect the surroundings. Soft pinks and deep reds lift the dark forest green, woody browns and bronzes.”

Couple kissing with leaves falling around them

An Intimate Forest Wedding in the Czech Republic

Jitka and Honza didn’t want a big wedding with the whole shebang. Instead they chose to marry under the falling autumn leaves in an intimate forest wedding. Just their daughter, best man and Jitka’s best friend Eliška, who was also their wedding photographer, were there.

Jitka loves a bit of rock so opted to wear a leather jacket and boots with her wedding dress, which looked amazing. Her matching bridal bouquet and floral headband completed the look perfectly.

After the ceremony the couple and their bridal party went to a wonderful restaurant, Drmalská Myslivna, located in a picturesque valley at the foot of the Ore Mountains. Here they enjoyed a fabulous lunch set on a woodland styled table decorated with moss, twigs and conkers.

We love how intimate their forest wedding ceremony was. Who needs a church packed full of people when you can have those nearest and dearest to you under the trees.

We adore these pictures by Eliška of Khiria.

Enough Company to Have Fun With

“We decide to get married alone in the forest because we simply felt that big weddings aren’t made for us. I was in the 7th month of pregnancy and I just wanted to spend the day with my best friend, our daughter, Honza and his best man. It was enough company to have fun with.
