What does The Beautiful Wedding Company do?

We do beautiful weddings, providing London and the Home Counties with our fantastic wedding planning packages, and bridal beauty discounts. Our Beauty Boutique has been designed to cover all beauty treatments a bride-to-be could possible want in the lead up to her big day, and they are at exclusive discounted rates.

Boutique - The Beautiful Wedding Company

How did The Beautiful Wedding Company come about and how long has the business been going?

Are your discounts always with the same companies/brands or do these vary?

We are loyal to our suppliers and clients and at present are working with these companies. However, through our blog we regularly review beauty and health care products, offering our readers regular up-to-date information on a wide range of products. The Beautiful Wedding Company works to offer brides-to-be a fuller wedding countdown service.

What types of discounts are available? Do these change or are the same offers always available?

Our discounts range from 10%-65% depending on the treatment being enquired about. Our suppliers often introduce new treatments and discounts which we make our readers aware of through our blog.

Facial - The Beautiful Wedding Company

What sets The Beautiful Wedding Company apart from other companies that offer beauty discounts?

Our Beauty discounts are part of our overall wedding planning objective, to provide brides-to-be with their beauty, health and wedding planning essentials at affordable prices, in the lead up to their wedding day. Our suppliers have been carefully selected for their professionalism and industry expertise.

Where do brides go for these treatments? Are there offers available nationwide?

Unfortunately not, these treatments are London based, or for a call out charge some can be offered in the comfort of the client’s own home.

How does a bride request one of the discounted beauty treatments?

Teeth - The Beautiful Wedding CompanySimply head to our Beauty Boutique area on the website and email us to enquire about any of the treatments mentioned, or to receive our full bridal beauty menu.

Is there a limit as to how many discounted treatments a bride can have?

Nope, in fact a lot of our beauty treatments offer that the bride goes for free!

We’ve found that through booking one of the luxury beauty hen party packages, or trialling the treatments before confirming the supplier for your wedding day, this the best way to ensure you are getting the perfect bridal beauty treatments for you.

Tell me more about your luxury beauty hen parties.

Lovingly designed Luxury Beauty hen parties, provided by our beauty suppliers in London. They offer a range of pamper parties, including champagne, beauty treatments, hair-up dos, nibbles and more! What’s your top tip for choosing bridal beauty treatments?

Decide on what treatments are a ‘must’ in the lead up to your big day, set aside a budget and come and talk to us!

Random question… Hot chocolate with or without whipped cream on top?

Without; why would you add anything to chocolate?!

Interview With: Stacey-Marie Chalk

Company Name: Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings

Website: www.cherrytopped.co.uk

Location / Coverage: Based in Reigate, covering Surrey, Sussex, Kent and London. Though please get in touch if you are getting married further afield to discuss possibilities.

What does Cherry Topped do?

Cherry Topped are dedicated to planning and coordinating beautiful and memorable weddings, perfectly personalised to our clients. There are so many different ways to celebrate a wedding and your wedding day should be just as you wish. Cherry Topped will help to bring out the ideas that reflect you as a couple, making your Wedding Day unique to you. We are meticulous in our attention to detail and organisation, meaning you can concentrate on treasuring every moment in the lead up to your Wedding Day and focus on what is most important: the life-long commitment you are making to each other.

Wedding Rings - Cherry Topped

Have you always been interested in weddings and wanted to be a wedding planner?

I have never had childhood dreams of a big white wedding (at one point I even thought I may never get married!), but I used to help out a family friend who is a wedding dress designer when I was much younger doing a bit of sewing, helping with the brides when they came in etc, so I wonder whether subconsciously I had a love for beautiful wedding treats from then. Some years later I was proposed to by Mr C and I suddenly became completely embroiled with creativity, wedding research; I had so many different ideas – it felt good to be creative again after years of professional corporate environments. I am somewhat of a perfectionist so all of the organisation and careful attention to detail came naturally to me. The penny started to drop as various wedding suppliers commented on whether I worked in the event planning industry! Suddenly a new world was open right before me!

How did Cherry Topped get started and how long has the business been going?

Wedding bouquet - Cherry ToppedAfter becoming Mrs C I had the opportunity to plan Clare and Adrian’s wedding which took place Easter 2010. I loved absolutely every minute of it! The whole experience, even thriving on the wedding day itself, further cemented the idea of setting up Cherry Topped.

And so it began…I went into full business planning mode, with developing a logo, attending training, carrying out market research, designing and writing website copy, throwing myself into creative hobbies – all sorts! At the same time I had my second client wedding to plan for Caroline and Peter, my aim was to have a fully set up and ‘launched’ business for the start of September 2010, just before their wedding. Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings officially opened for business on 3rd September 2010, in order to plan and coordinate many more memorable and beautiful weddings, bespoke to our clients! Shortly afterwards I put forward a proposal and received a confirmed booking for my third client wedding.

Why is your company called Cherry Topped?

It is with thanks to Clare, my first bride that I have my business name. She commented on how I consider every last detail and suggested the name, reflecting the phrase “with a cherry on top”!

What services can Cherry Topped offer to couples planning their wedding?

Full Wedding Planning

Our most comprehensive service and bespoke to your requirements. Perfect for couples who wish to have a professional wedding planner cover every aspect of their wedding, from finding the perfect venue and sourcing outstanding suppliers to coordinating all of the logistics.

Bringing It All Together

This service is for the couple who have started to set plans in place. You may have realised that time is not on your side and you require some help in finalising all of your plans, or you simply want to reduce the stress and enjoy the lead up to your wedding day.

Cherry Pick

Cherry Pick from our list of modular wedding planning services such as wedding day coordination, venue searching, supplier sourcing, RSVP and guest management, bridal party styling or a personalised wedding website.

Why should a couple choose to use you to help them plan their big day?

Hiring a wedding planner is a lifestyle choice which is becoming more popular in the UK. With an average wedding taking at least 250 hours to plan, it isn’t surprising that many couples are now choosing to hire the services of a professional wedding planner. There are many reasons for choosing Cherry Topped’s wedding planning services. Here are just a few:

  • You have a very hectic work and social life and can’t imagine where you’ll find the time
  • You want to focus on your marriage rather than get caught up in a planning whirlwind
  • You want creative suggestions whilst working within your budget
  • You want to have the support of industry knowledge, expertise and experience

I have also trained with and am an Associate Member of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP) which is highly recognised within the wedding industry. Cherry Topped abides by the UKAWP’s strict code of ethics in support of ensuring the credibility of the wedding planning industry.

Which part of helping to plan a wedding do you enjoy the most and why?

This is a really tough question, and this probably sounds like a cliché answer – I love it all! I might have a slight preference in helping couples come up with design and personalisation ideas. I love finding out about the couple, what is important to them, things about their personalities and lives together that they would like to bring out on their wedding day, ideas they may already have, little jokes or thoughts they know guests will appreciate etc. Then I love researching to find creative ways to incorporate these ideas and thoughts into their wedding which suits them and their wedding ‘style’.

Do you have a specific style of wedding that you like to help create?

Not in particular. I have created a ‘themed’ wedding, a classic English wedding and now I am creating another ‘themed’ wedding. When I say ‘themed’, they are subtle themes, not fancy dress style at all! I also created a 1930/40’s style wedding reception for my own wedding – I do love bygone eras!

Ultimately I create the wedding that my clients want – it is not my wedding day it is theirs, so they remain in full control of all decisions. So in summary I will create any style of wedding as all weddings will have a different style! We are all unique in our own ways!

What are the best and worst things about being a wedding planner?

The best is seeing it all come together and observing in the few brief moments you get on the wedding day the enjoyment of the bride and groom and their guests. If I am able to hear the vows, depending on whether I am meeting and greeting suppliers, then I will – I am a soppy romantic really!

I’ve not yet experienced a real ‘worst bit’, though I came close when the fire alarm went off just after Caroline and Peter’s ceremony! Luckily all the guests had just gone outside into the grounds for champagne; they were out of harm’s way.  Thankfully it was just a fault in the system but the alarm went off 5 times!

What is your most memorable experience of planning one of your client’s weddings?

There are so many memorable moments but I particularly remember when individual caricatures of the bride and groom were done which were placed over the ladies and gents signs and were kept hidden from them until on the day – their reactions were brilliant and the guests loved it!

Picture of Bride and Groom Caricatures - Cherry Topped

What are your top tips for planning the perfect wedding?

I could give top tips about budgeting, coordinating suppliers, researching, scheduling the day etc etc, but I feel that there is one fundamental top tip…

Your perfect wedding is about you and your bride/groom. Talk through what is important and less important to you both and write those things down so you remember along the way. It is all too easy to lose sight of that once you start reading magazines, listening to the opinions of friends and family and wanting absolutely everything your eyes fall upon!

We get a lot of products sent to us to sample and review, including a lot of chocolates, cakes and yummy edible products (it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it). We were recently sent some of the most amazing chocolates that we have ever tasted from L’Artisan du Chocolat.

The chocolates we sampled were their wedding collection, which will make the perfect wedding favours with prices starting at £2.

The L’Artisan du Chocolat wedding collection has three options:

Mini Monogram Box – £2

The Mini Monogram Box is a sliding box containing three beautiful pearl balls, each with a mouth watering filling. Much thought has gone into these amazing chocolates. Inspired by South Sea Pearls®, which are the rarest and most luxurious pearls in the world, L’Artisan du Chocolat have created the finest dark and milk ganaches covered with a thin layer of white chocolate and pearlescent silver and gold colours.

Tahiti Pearls® are the only natural dark pearls in the world ranging from silver to black. These dark pearl chocolates are made from the darkest chocolate with a smooth hazelnut praline. The Mini Monogram Box also comes as liquid salted caramels in five different flavours.

O Favours Box – £2

The O Favours Box contains a selection of three assorted O thin discs filled with incredible flavours. These delicate chocolates are L’Artisan du Chocolat’s assorted Os and fresh mints collection; thin discs in dark, milk or white chocolate incredibly filled with fruit coulis, pralines, honey or ganache. Each disk is beautifully decorated and you can choose from ten different flavours.

Couture Box – £4

The Couture Box contains four of L’Artisan du Chocolat‘s Couture range in the most luxurious box inspired by Japan. The box looks like a little book and the idea is the box tells the story of L’Artisan du Chocolat’s passion for chocolate. The Couture collection has a diverse range of flours inspired by fruits, flowers, herbs and spices with 38 flavours to choose from.

We loved these chocolates from L’Artisan du Chocolat, not just because of the quality and divine taste of each and every one, but the time and effort that has gone into creating these collections, crafting the chocolates and beautifully presenting the finished product.

If you are looking for something extra special for your wedding favours without breaking the bank, we highly recommend these truly amazing chocolates from L’Artisan du Chocolat.

You can see the whole range of flavours and collections in the L’Artisan du Chocolat brochure

Interview With: Mary Lee Herrington

Company Name: Forever and Ever Events

Website: www.foreverandeverevents.com

Location / Coverage: London, Greater London

What does Forever and Ever Events do?

We are a boutique wedding and events planning firm based in Primrose Hill, London.  A typical Forever and Ever client is stylish, unique, sophisticated and very busy, often with demanding jobs that leave little room in her schedule to plan a wedding.  She does not want a cookie-cutter wedding, but injects her personal stamp on everything. She also realises that planning this wedding takes a lot of time and work.

Many people think that most of the work is in finding a venue – it isn’t.  After booking a venue you still have to engage vendors (stationery, catering, music, transportation, florist, additional venues for a rehearsal dinner, welcome parties, post-wedding brunch, just to name a few), and then you have to coordinate amongst them before and during the day to ensure everything is perfect and goes smoothly.  On top of that, if you want a truly beautiful and unique wedding, all of the details that go into these arrangements with vendors become even more complex.  That is where Forever and Ever Events steps in to help – and our services are tailored to each client.  We protect our clients’ interest every step of the way, and make certain their day is exactly how they imagined it would be.

Have you always been interested in weddings and wanted to be a wedding planner?

I’ve always loved being a host.  Any party that I threw had to be different, quirky and well organised, but my career origins were not in wedding planning – they were actually in law!  I was a lawyer for several years, working for top international law firms with lots of prestige and acting on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions.  While I was training to become a lawyer, I was the chair of the social committee at my law school and planned large events such as balls, formals and theatrical productions that drew 500+ guests.  I loved planning these events and often received feedback from people that I should start my own event planning company.  During this entire time, I always had an interest in design and I became an avid follower of Martha Stewart Weddings and wedding design blogs.  I guess it was a realisation over time that I wanted to be a wedding planner, but there was always an obsession with event styling, stationery, wedding photography, and, of course, the designer gowns!

How did Forever and Ever Events come about and how long has the business been going?

It wasn’t until after several years of practicing law and my talking about starting a wedding planning business on the side (but never having the time due to my demanding job) that my heart finally just told me that it was time to go for it.  I followed my heart, with the support and utter belief that my wonderful husband had in me, and started Forever and Ever Events.  Our first wedding was in Bath and it was magnificent.  The business has been going since early 2010 and every day sees more challenges and growth.  It is so gratifying to be an entrepreneur, but even more so to plan really high-end customised events for people.  Our clients are wonderful, seriously the best bosses I’ve ever had.

Which areas of the country do you cover?

We cover London and the Greater London area (locations within 1.5 hours of the city limits, e.g., Bath, Cambridge, Oxford).

What services can Forever and Ever Events offer to couples planning their wedding?

Brides today want a wedding planner who combines design and styling consultancy with a celebration of individuality and personalised details. This movement has already taken hold in the US wedding market, and our vision is for brides to be able to achieve that here in the UK.  Our brides look at Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot and design-focused wedding blogs such as 100 Layer Cake, Once Wed and The Pretty Blog and think, Why can’t my British wedding be like this?  We share the same taste and understand their desire.  Whether they hire us for full wedding and event design services, partial planning services or on-day coordination, we help them have the wedding of their dreams. We go above and beyond to make them happy – for example, the agreement may not call for it, but you can find me setting up the tables at a rehearsal dinner, making sure that the hotel has a chilled bottle of bubbly waiting for them in their bridal suite, setting out Krispy Kremes as a surprise in their hotel room (because I know it is their favourite dessert) – these are details that clients are too busy to think about themselves, but which I know are important to them and frankly, make them feel taken care of.  A bride can expect that we will be more OCD than she is about her wedding!

Is it expensive to have a wedding planner and why should a couple choose to use you to help them plan their big day?

When you consider how much is going into a wedding, a wedding planner’s fees are not that expensive, especially because Forever and Ever Events will do much more work for you than just what is agreed in the contract – and we do this happily because we care about them (indeed, our clients become our friends during the planning process!).  The fees will also depend on what you want from a planner – you may want the planner to do everything and come to you for sign-off on decisions, or you may want to plan it all yourself and hire someone as a day-of coordinator who oversees all the vendors and schedules on the wedding day.  The most beneficial reason why a couple should choose to use a wedding planner: to relieve them of the work.  A wedding is often not just one day – it is often 2-4 days of hosting and requires many months of planning.  It is a full time production and requires a project manager.  When handing over the oversight duties to a planner, clients can actually enjoy their events and don’t have to worry about set-up, phoning vendors, supervising a rehearsal, telling the musician to start/stop, etc.  Venue managers/coordinators are helpful in managing catering and clean up, but their interests are aligned with the venue, not solely focused on what you need.  They certainly won’t be available to assist with your other wedding events, including a ceremony held elsewhere.  We only recommend vendors whom we trust and know to produce excellent work, and any discounts from these relationships are passed on directly to the client.  In terms of costs, time and work saved, it’s money well spent.

Does Forever and Ever Events have a specialist area?

Our specialist area is in creating a wedding that is the couple’s unique expression of themselves.  Rather inadvertently, we have also become a go-to planner for couples where one or both of them are expats who want to get married in the UK.  People have shown tremendous interest simply due to our understanding of American sensibilities and the high standard placed on wedding planning in the States.  Knowing about my legal background, clients are confident that I will deliver on time, that I will be prepared for any eventuality and that my work product will always be professional and perfect – whether reviewing and negotiating contract terms with vendors or anticipating issues that may crop up.  While I am not an immigration lawyer, we can also flag key immigration/visa issues and inform clients of applicable paperwork with the authorities.  Not only that – they often ask me to weigh in on legal questions as well (sometimes not even related to the wedding!) and, although I can’t give them advice as their lawyer, as their planner I can often help them towards finding an answer or referral.

Do you have a specific style of wedding that you like to help create?

There is no one style that we create because each couple is different and it really depends on the client’s tastes and vision, but there is a common thread: uber stylish, tasteful, modern and high-end. Our brides wear Jenny Packham, Vera Wang, Temperley, Caroline Castigliano, or vintage dresses found on eBay, and killer heels that aren’t necessarily bridal white.  They may pair a gown with red satin sandals, or a bespoke headpiece purchased from Etsy for less than £40.  The style is discerning and beautiful – less frou-frou, more high and quirky fashion.  Our weddings also often involve creating bespoke wedding stationery with a graphic designer, something you can’t find by ordering online or at Paperchase.  You see a lot of originality in the US wedding industry and that is what our brides want to achieve here in London.

What are the best and worst things about being a wedding planner?

The Best: developing close friendships with my clients.

The Worst: it can be unpredictable when, like me, you run a business and, as an entrepreneur, have to expect peaks and valleys, but I think the ‘worst’ part of the job is when a venue coordinator, frustratingly, does not care as much about the wedding and your client as they should.

What is your most memorable experience of planning one of your client’s weddings?

One of my favourite aspects of my job is helping to create the wedding stationery.  It is like a marketing piece for your wedding and sets the tone for the rest of the day’s look.  It too should be viewed as an expression of yourselves as a couple – whether you want it to be chic and formal, or quirky and fun.  I absolutely loved creating a silhouette motif with a graphic designer and carrying that through to each piece of the wedding stationery – from the save-the-dates with the silhouettes on one page and an etching of a historic building on the opposite page, to the luxe wedding invitation with separate RSVP cards and travel inserts, all tying back into that silhouette theme.  My absolute favourite was probably the separate ‘travel & accommodations’ card that was drafted with over-the-top Britishisms, which the many American guests got a huge kick out of!

What’s your top tip for planning the perfect wedding?

If you make your wedding a unique expression of yourselves and your style (not someone else’s), then it will be an event that your guests will talk about for a long time afterwards.

Ladies, how many times have you bought a gorgeous new pair of shoes for a wedding or other event and have ruined the heels the first time you have worn them when you’ve walked across a lawn or field and sunk into the grass? Not to mention the fact that you look pretty silly as you try in vain to stop yourself sinking, either as you walk, or while you stand to smile for photographs.

Well your problems have now been solved!

Pretty Pink Toes Boutique have a wonderful product called The Heel Stopper. Clean Heels flexible Heel Stoppers are designed to fit onto stiletto heels to stop you sinking into mud and grass.

I have been playing with a pair at The Wedding Community this week and I have to say they are amazing! Simply pop them onto the heel of your shoe to prevent your heels sinking into grass. They also help protect floors on cruise ships, yachts or wooden floors.

Heel Stoppers come in three different sizes:

  • Petite – approx fits heel widths 0.5 to 0.7cm
  • Small  – fits heel widths of 0.9 to 1.2cm
  • Medium -  fits heel widths of 1.3 to 1.6cm (This is the size I tried out which seems perfect for the majority of my shoes)

The Heel Stoppers come in different designs, from clear or black, to fancy glitter ones embellished with Diamante Hearts, Ivory or Silver Hearts, Mother of Pearl, and Teardrops and Pearls.

Prices start at just £4.99, and all Heel Stoppers come in a pretty voile bag. They really are a must for all brides and female wedding guests who love their shoes!

Interview With: Sera Golding

Company Name: Undercover Superstars

Website: www.undercoversuperstars.com

Location / Coverage: Worldwide

Who are Undercover Superstars?

Undercover Superstars are a fun act that we put together for weddings & other events. Basically, we hide vocalists undercover at the wedding, usually during the wedding breakfast (but not always!) as Waiters, Bar Staff, Event Managers, Chefs, Firemen….even Guests! At the given moment, one of the characters will draw attention to themselves, lull your guests into the false belief that they are who they say they are, and then burst into song and shock everyone! Then, one by one, each vocalist will come out of the woodwork.

Our singers are fantastic performers and usually end up sprinting around the room, dancing on the tables and quite often, whirling your gran or your cousin around the dancefloor! We are the first (and currently only) company to do this with modern singers. There are a lot of opera-based companies out there, but our vocalist perform music from artistes like Robbie Williams, Aretha Franklyn, Queen, Christina Aguilera etc. It’s great fun!

How did Undercover Superstars get started and how long have you been going?

We’re a relatively new act. We launched in Jan 2009, but have become incredibly popular, I think due to the originality of the act, being the only people to perform modern music. We run MIB Music Ltd, which has been running some of the UK’s top function bands for the last 6 years. We saw a gap in the market that just had to be filled!

Where do you cover?

All over the UK, and the world.

What service can Undercover Superstars provide at a wedding?

We’ve got lots of scenarios that have worked well at weddings. My favourite one is where we have two undercover guests and one ‘event manager’.  Our undercover guests spend the afternoon milling around with the other guests, saying they met the happy couple on holiday last year. During the meal, the female guest is obviously getting rather tipsy and stumbles up to the microphone that’s set up for speeches. She drunkenly announces that she wants to propose to her boyfriend! She gets down on one knee and begins to sing (terribly) ‘I will always Love You’….he jumps up, says ‘Of course I’ll marry you, as long as you stop singing!’…he then launches into song and the show starts from there, featuring our female guest suddenly getting her vocal chords back, and our event planner coming out of the woodwork! This is great fun, and I’ve never seen such a reaction than when our singer announces she wants to propose! The look on the guests faces is priceless!

Another scenario we’ve done before is during the ceremony, recreating that famous wedding scene in ‘Love Actually’ where members of the congregation start singing and popping up all over the place….this is very popular!

We’ve also done all sorts of other scenarios, featuring firemen who want to shut the event down, and foreign chefs who want to offer their congratulations…. the world is your oyster really. We work closely with all our brides and grooms to ensure the scenario will work for them, and quite often they have their own ideas as to how this can work.

Another popular idea is to book us as a surprise for your other half, which is always great fun!

What sets Undercover Superstars apart from other wedding entertainment and live music?

This is just such a fun and original idea. The look on your guests faces is absolutely priceless! It’s something that will be remembered and talked about amongst your friends and family forever more!

Who have you been undercover as?

We’ve done so many scenarios…I especially liked one where we had two of our singers waitressing and one of our male singers undercover as a guest. The catch was that the client used to work for MI5, so he told everyone that this ‘guest’ was a work mate from those days. Our ‘guest’ made his way around all the guests, pulling out ‘personal’ information on them that he really shouldn’t have known! As you can imagine, the guests were all incredibly cagey and worried by the time came for him to reveal who he was!

What’s the best ‘Undercover’ performance you have done?

We did one at a company launch once which was hilarious. We had an undercover guest who pretended he was a life coach. Our client even got some disgusting looking business cards printed for him to hand out…and he made his way around the whole room giving people cheesy ‘life coaching’ advice. Every single person in that room was thinking, ‘who is this guy?’! When he burst into song, I think it’s safe to say they were pretty speechless!

What type of music do you provide?

All modern, fun tunes. Favourites are things like ‘All Night Long’ (Lionel Richie), ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ (Queen), ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ (Jocelyn Brown), ‘Take On Me’ (Aha)….all sorts really. We work with the client to come up with songs that they love and they know their guests will love. For example, we had a client who loved ‘Glee’ a few months ago, so we performed all the songs from the show.

Who/what are your influences?

We love performing music that everyone will know, so any of the popular artistes from the 50’s to now really. All our singers have different specialities – from Michael Jackson to Frank Sinatra.

What’s the best thing about the job?

Just the look on everyones faces I think. It’s a very stressful performance to do because we go to all lengths to make sure the cover is never blown, however, once we see the look on the guests faces and then get them up dancing and having a great time, it’s always such a high!
