It might be something that you haven’t yet thought about but the lighting you choose can really help set the scene for your wedding. Ladies, how many times have you bought a gorgeous new pair of shoes for a wedding or other event and have ruined the heels the first time you have worn them when you’ve walked across a lawn or field and sunk into the grass? Not to mention the fact that you look pretty silly as you try in vain to stop yourself sinking, either as you walk, or while you stand to smile for photographs.

Well your problems have now been solved!

Pretty Pink Toes Boutique have a wonderful product called The Heel Stopper. Clean Heels flexible Heel Stoppers are designed to fit onto stiletto heels to stop you sinking into mud and grass.

I have been playing with a pair at The Wedding Community this week and I have to say they are amazing! Simply pop them onto the heel of your shoe to prevent your heels sinking into grass. They also help protect floors on cruise ships, yachts or wooden floors.

Heel Stoppers come in three different sizes:

  • Petite – approx fits heel widths 0.5 to 0.7cm
  • Small  – fits heel widths of 0.9 to 1.2cm
  • Medium -  fits heel widths of 1.3 to 1.6cm (This is the size I tried out which seems perfect for the majority of my shoes)

The Heel Stoppers come in different designs, from clear or black, to fancy glitter ones embellished with Diamante Hearts, Ivory or Silver Hearts, Mother of Pearl, and Teardrops and Pearls.

Prices start at just £4.99, and all Heel Stoppers come in a pretty voile bag. They really are a must for all brides and female wedding guests who love their shoes!

Interview With: Hayley Ruth

Company Name: Hayley Ruth Photography

Website: www.hayleyruthphotography.co.uk

Location / Coverage: Cambridge, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and wherever my clients want me to go.

How did Hayley Ruth Photography come about and how long has the business been going?

Hayley Ruth Photography has been going for about 5 years now, but I gave up my full time employment 2 years ago to run the business full time as I was so busy with the photography and it’s where my passion lies.

What sets Hayley Ruth Photography apart from other wedding photographers?

Ensuring my clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. I spend time getting to know my clients and having fun with them in front of the camera before the big day.  Having your picture taken shouldn’t be a traumatic experience, especially on your wedding day, so this is a really important part of what I do for my clients.

When my clients say to me, “Let’s do a few more”, it’s just the best moment!

What’s the best thing about the job?

Where to start with this one?  I love everything about it. Taking pictures is obviously a passion, sharing in someone’s special day, seeing those happy emotions and capturing those key moments for someone to treasure, seeing clients tears when they see their wedding images for the first time, delivering their wedding album, oh the list goes on. But most of all it’s probably the friendships I develop with my clients, it means so much!

Does Hayley Ruth Photography have a specialist area or style of photography?

My style is about relaxed images that have style. I am always looking to provide my clients with images that express them as individuals, not giving them images off a recipe card of wedding images must haves.  I spend time with each client exploring their venue and talking about the style of images they like, so their images will be unique to them.

Who/what are your influences?

My biggest influences are the clients I have. I love it when their confidence with what we are doing pops out and they make suggestions for shots they want to try. It means we have some great fun and get some fantastic images that truly reflect them.

Do you have a favourite picture you have taken (If you can choose!)?

Choosing one image is so hard as there are many that are amongst my favourites, but here is one I particularly like.

Do you have a top tip for choosing a wedding photographer?

Choose someone you feel comfortable with. Once you have seen the quality of their work and are happy they are going to provide you with the images you will cherish forever, this is the most important thing.

I am constantly surprised and horrified with how many photographer horror stories I hear. The photographer plays a key role in your day, no matter how unobtrusive they are, so it’s important they are someone you trust and feel comfortable with, as well as feeling they will fit in and be a pleasure to have as part of your day.
