Teal and coral (or salmon and turquoise) go so well together, and create a beautiful colour combination that is perfect for any spring or summer wedding. Mixing a few luxury items with DIY touches, like the crochet cake toppers and paper flowers, will add an unexpected sweetness to your wedding day.

At The Wedding Community we have been dreaming of summer, and strawberry afternoon teas… mmmm! Today we are sharing some fabulous ideas for a strawberry themed wedding.

For most people, we are sure that strawberries conjure up thoughts of long, hot summers, so if you are having a summer wedding, strawberries will be in season and are a fabulous way to style your wedding. Their heart shape and pretty colour make them perfect as a theme, and they are easily incorporated, from your wedding invitations through to your wedding favours.

How about a strawberry cream tea for your wedding guests, making homemade jam as wedding favours and using lovely big teacups planted with strawberries as your table centrepieces? What about a great big table piled high with strawberry delights? Do you like the sound of this for your wedding?

Here are some ideas for a strawberry themed wedding.

You may not have even thought of choosing denim as part of your wedding theme, but denim can be super cute if used in the right way. We don’t mean you need to have a wedding dress made in denim (although it might look cool if you did!), just using the fabric as part of your decorations and styling.

For decorations, cute heart denim bunting will look great for an indoor wedding, a wedding outside or in a marquee. We also love the idea of denim and lace rag garlands that will sway in the wind if you are using an outside space. Using old denim jean pockets to put your guest’s cutlery and napkins into is a novel idea for place settings, and how about wrapping little drinks bottles in pieces of denim and tying with a little string or ribbon.

For the little details, a handmade denim corsage or wrist corsage will look amazing, and you could also make these as buttonholes for the groomsmen. Another lovely idea is to simply wrap pieces of denim around the stems of your buttonhole arrangements.

If you are having denim as part of your wedding styling it will complement the look if your bridal party wear some denim too… no, they don’t have to wear their jeans! A simple denim or denim-look/colour bow tie, blazer or waistcoat for the guys, and cute denim-look dresses for the girls; these will look great in different colours and styles, as the mismatch look is a really hot trend for bridal party outfits.

When you think of crochet, you might be reminded of your Gran’s lace doily that her pot plant stood on! Crochet offers so much more…

Lace has been really popular for weddings recently, and crochet is just like lace but offers a more handmade, personal touch. Crochet is so pretty and feminine and will work perfectly if you are having a vintage or boho styled wedding. We are not saying you need to get your crochet needles out; there are many beautiful crochet pieces that you can buy from places like Etsy and Folksy that do not cost the earth.

Crochet tablecloths (and your Gran’s crochet doily!) are classic and lend themselves well to covering a drink or dessert table. Crochet bunting will look fabulous hung around your wedding venue, you could make or buy your groomsmen crochet buttonholes, have your wedding cake designed to incorporate your crochet theme, and if you wanted to go all out, there are some beautiful crochet wedding dresses available.

Fresh minty green with a pop of orange is such an amazing colour combination for a spring or summer wedding. Mint green is a very classic and calming colour that will create a fresh, sweet look to your wedding. Tones of orange or coral work really well with mint and create a fun, playful vibe. Succulents have a great minty colour to them and look great in wedding bouquets and floral displays mixed with orange ranunculus.

Here is our wedding inspiration mood board for mint and orange wedding styling.

One of our favourite spring flowers for weddings (well not just weddings!) is the ranunculus. The Ranunculus, readily available from January to May, has layers and layers of tissue-thin, blousy petals which create gorgeous blooms that are available in a rainbow of colours. These gorgeous flowers, with their tight whorl of petals, look stunning in a one-colour bouquet, a mixed colour bouquet, and also together with other spring flowers, and are great for outdoor weddings as they stay fresh when other types of flowers tend to wilt in heat.

Just look how beautiful they are…

Have you thought about having long tables for your wedding reception rather than the classic round tables? Having long tables at weddings seems to be growing in popularity, and we love the idea. Not only does having long tables open up endless styling ideas, you can also make the most of limited space. The intimacy, togetherness and elegance of a long table wedding reception is second to none.

When it comes to dressing long tables, how about having beautiful single stem flowers in vases along the table, or if you are having an elegant glamorous wedding, chandeliers, candles and large displays of flowers will look marvellous.

Whether you are having a rustic wedding, modern wedding, or even a destination wedding, long tables are a guaranteed way to create a more intimate atmosphere.
