A Beautiful Opera House Wedding

Today’s real wedding pictures come from Ceri and Jamie’s opera house wedding, photographed by the fabulous Andrew J R Squires Photography.

Ceri and Jamie married on 24th September 2011 in beautiful Ringmer, East Sussex. Jamie’s family are heavily involved in opera and so the couple thought that Glyndebourne Opera House would be the perfect place to hold their wedding reception. This traditional wedding was styled to make it personal to Ceri and Jamie, with personally designed stationery, homemade cakes and table decorations.

“We wanted our wedding to be traditional, but with elements which made it personal to us.  The flowers used to decorate the church and reception venue were all picked from friends’ gardens and from Glyndebourne, and we designed and artworked all the stationery and orders of service so they looked exactly as we wanted them to.  Ceri and I, bridesmaids and family members baked homemade cakes which were served in the afternoon with Pimm’s and Prosecco, and Ceri’s mother also made the spectacular chocolate wedding cake herself, with 20 bars of Green & Black’s finest!  The wine came from the Ile de Ré, our favourite holiday destination, which we then returned to for the first week of our honeymoon, and the table decorations were all homemade, right down to the table numbers and the hundreds of feet of bunting hanging from the rafters of the restaurant!  Even the favours were handmade by us and Emma, one of the bridesmaids, with scrabble tile cufflinks spelling out the initials of each male guest and freshly made fudge for the ladies.

“The whole day was absolutely perfect in every way and even better than we hoped.  I hope you enjoy the pictures!”

A DIY Wedding in Queensland

Bride and groom standing outside a dairy - Picture by Andrea Sproxton Photography

Today we are bringing you another gorgeous wedding from outside of the UK. This wedding photographed by Andrea Sproxton Photography took place in beautiful Queensland, Australia.

The bride and groom, Adele and Paul, really added their personal touch to their wedding with the entire day being handcrafted by the couple, including beautiful hand-stamped linen placemats. The fantastic pictures from this rustic, outdoor, DIY wedding show how much love and attention went into creating such a perfect day.

Oh and we ‘love’ the bride’s shoes from Irregular Choice!

Commenting on the style of their gorgeous wedding, Adele and Paul explain…

“Using the beautiful rustic setting of Yandina Station as a foundation for our design, we created a number of handmade items such as linen placemats, bunting, vintage styled children’s pin-wheels and ribbon wands. Individual items such as the guest’s placemats were ink stamped with tree symbols to represent the significance of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree. Dressing the ceremony space and the garden party was easy as we could structure the decoration around the strong, genuine character of the historic farmstead. The vintage styled handmade decorations allowed us to subtly impose a little of our personalities.”

A Candlelit Winter Wedding

No Throughfare For Carriages or Horses Sign - Picture by Laura McCluskey Photography

Candlelight creates the perfect ambience for a winter wedding, and this is exactly what Elizabeth and Kamal wanted for their beautiful December wedding at Queen’s College Chapel and Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Photographed by Laura McCluskey Photography, this beautiful winter wedding was styled by Elizabeth, with romantic candlelight, seasonal flowers in mismatched glass vases and each table named after the couple’s favourite authors. Elizabeth wore a classic fishtail-style Vera Wang dress and her Grandmother’s antique veil

Elizabeth explains the ideas behind the styling…

“We wanted our wedding to be festive, intimate and candlelit as much as possible. For those reasons, I chose the bridesmaids’ bouquets and dresses in jewel-like reds – purples, mulberries, crimsons – and ordered some bunting to decorate one of the reception areas in matching colours. I didn’t think about having a ‘theme’ as much as wanting the whole day to be elegant, atmospheric and, most importantly, fun. In many ways, the beauty of the venue informed the styling: the chapel and the dining hall were historic and striking and that meant I wanted my dress to be timeless, to complement rather than to detract from the setting.

“I handmade the guests’ favours – individual packets of mulled wine spices that I’d ordered online, complete with a hand-tied ribbon and hand-written luggage label – as well as the postcard pictures we had on each table showing me and my partner at different stages in our life. The cake was baked by my mother and iced by my (very creative) sister. My veil was a piece of lace from my late grandmother that I asked a local dress alterations place to sew a hair comb onto. It meant the day was even more special because there was a part of her with me as I walked down the aisle.”

Californian Beach Wedding

Bride and groom on beach with sun shining - Picture by Captured by Aimee

We just had to share the pictures from this beautiful outdoor wedding, photographed by San Diego wedding photographer Captured by Aimee, which took place in Del Mar, California.

The California beach provides a stunning backdrop for the amazing wedding of Heather and Josh. This is a laid-back wedding with the bride wearing a gorgeous lace wedding dress with ballet slippers, an abundance of succulents as wedding flowers, a beautiful Chuppah, and even late night popcorn!

Heather describes their wedding style…

“For our wedding I wanted everything earthy and natural. I feel like Josh and I are total beach bums at heart, but we definitely wanted to keep to a clean, fresh and nature-minded theme that was as comfortable as it was classy.”
