Bride and groom standing next to lake - Picture by Chantal Lachance-Gibson Photography

The first finalist for our Picture of the Year 2013 competition is Chantal Lachance-Gibson Photography, after this beautiful picture received the most votes in our January 2013 Picture of the Day vote. The picture was taken on the shores of Loch Lomond at the wedding of Fiona and Raymond, a day Chantal has great memories of…

“Fiona and Raymond were married on a beautiful sunny day at The Loch Lomond Waterfront on the shores on Loch Lomond, where this photo was taken. The day was planned by the amazing Carmen at Carmen Weddings, as Fiona and Raymond now live in Hong Kong.

“My style as a photographer is artistic, contemporary and photo journalistic. Whilst most of the day is taken capturing moments, emotions, and laughter, I also love to create artistic and memorable photos for the bride and groom with the surroundings, architectural features, or in this case beautiful landscape, which they can look back upon in years to come. After all, a couple’s venue of choice is chosen for a reason and I love to showcase this.

“This image was taken just a few meters away from where they became husband and wife. They will always remember the moment they exchanged their vows in front of family and friends, surrounded by this beautiful landscape, so I wanted to capture this for them in a timeless photograph

“Thanks to Fiona and Raymond for choosing me! I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and everyone else, and I have such great memories of the day!”

That’s it, we now have our 12 Picture of the Year finalists (voting for our Picture of the Year competition will start on Tuesday 15th January), after this stunning picture by Katie Drouet Photography received the most votes in our December 2012 Picture of the Day competition.

We asked a very excited Katie to tell us a little about the picture…

“Remember remember the 5th of November… Alanna and Mike will certainly never forget this date, as they got married.

“It was a lovely crisp, cold November day at Maidens Barn in Essex. After a beautiful ceremony, where emotions and nerves were running high, I took the couple for a walk to capture them as husband and wife for the first time; it really was such an honour to share this moment with them.

“The sun was just going down so we grabbed a few precious shots just before we lost it… I just love Alanna’s eyes in this picture, she looks so content with Mike looking forwards towards their future… just perfect.

“Thanks so much to the two of them for letting me be such a important part of their day.”

Bride and groom kissing under a tree - Picture by Jen Owens Images

There is just one place left for our Picture of the Year vote in January, after this beautiful picture by Jen Owens Images received the most votes from our readers to win our November Picture of the Day competition.

A delighted Jen told us how this picture came about…

“This photo is from the wedding of Justine and Jason, who were married at the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh on 4th August 2012. RCPE have access to the private Queen Street Gardens nearby, so after a few fun photos with Justine’s best friends, I took the two of them off for some quiet time together for their couple shots.

“Looking at the photo now, it’s funny to think the forecast that week had predicted rain! I couldn’t have asked for better light – the way it fell through the trees and across the grass was pretty magical. Justine and Jason were surrounded by a warm, summertime glow, and it was such a special moment for this lovely couple on the happiest of days.

“A big thank you to Justine and Jason – they’re a wonderful couple and it was a brilliant day.”

Bride looking in mirror in garden - Picture by Jasmine Jade Photography

This beautiful picture by Jasmine Jade Photography received the most votes in our October Picture of the Day competition, and becomes the 10th picture to go through to our Picture of the Year vote.

We asked Jasmine to tell us a little bit about the picture.

“The photograph was taken at the fabulous wedding of Helen and Dan on the 4th October. It was taken at Gaynes Park in Essex, an absolute must see venue for any bride-to-be; it is wonderful in every way. The autumnal themed flowers and ‘surprise’ singing of  a one direction hit (a favourite of the grooms) really made this wedding.

“This image is of Helen outside the ‘apple loft’ in her beautiful Justin Alexander dress; its fishtail shape and vintage design on the back, mixed with the lovely setting, make for a stylised image for the bride and groom to treasure for ever.”

Wedding party watching bride and groom kiss - Picture by Oscar and Rose Photography

Picture of the Month – September 2012

And the winner is… Oscar and Rose Photography!

Wedding party watching bride and groom kiss - Picture by Oscar and Rose Photography

Congratulations to Oscar and Rose Photography, the winner of our September Picture of the Day vote. This fantastic picture received the most votes from our readers to become the ninth picture to go through to our Picture of the Year vote in January.

Emma from Oscar and Rose told us a little bit about the picture…

“When Abi told me she was designing and making all six of her bridesmaid’s dresses, I knew this was going to be a wedding with a difference. Each dress was totally different, and Abi looked stunning in her dress too.

“The groom, Ant, is in a band and had 2 best men, so I knew everyone was going to be really up for trying some different shots from the more traditional wedding images, and because there were six bridesmaids and 2 best men, their friends obviously mean a lot to them, so I wanted to take a shot that wasn’t just about the bride and groom.

“I’m so pleased to have had the chance to shoot Abi and Ant’s wedding, it was one of the best weddings I have been to.”
