Company Name: Ellie & Charlotte

Website: www.ellielowe.co.uk

Location / Coverage: SW London / Worldwide!

How did Ellie & Charlotte come about and how long has the business been going?

We’ve been working together for 10years this September! We met whilst doing our A-Levels and starting working together after we graduated from university in 1999, making evening dresses for family friends. We really enjoyed working together and more and more people started asking us to make wedding dresses that were different – mainly because they wanted a slinky wedding dress, not a meringue, and that was harder to find then. We were also asked to make different styles and coloured wedding dresses.

Ellie and Charlotte Bridal Collection

What sets Ellie & Charlotte apart from other wedding dress designers?

The simple elegance and cut of our silk wedding dresses along with our personal service. Oh and we’re perfectionists!

What’s the best thing about your job?

Finding the right dress for each bride and meeting so many lovely people and being part of their big day. We’ve met so many amazing people over the years.

Does Ellie & Charlotte have a specialist area?

Apart from our bespoke and bridal collection! I would like to think it’s our honestly and guidance about which dress suits the bride to ensure they look perfect and feel amazing on their wedding day.

Lulubelles Cakes Logo Image

Interview with: Louisa Harman

Company Name: Lulubelle’s Cakes

Website: www.lulubellescakes.com

Location: West Parley, Dorset

Have you always wanted to make cakes for a living?

As a teenager I used to bake sculpted birthday cakes for friends and family, and always dreamed of owning my own little coffee and cake shop, but after going to Uni ended up working in advertising for more than a decade. It was only late last year that I rediscovered my love for baking and decided that the time was right to give it a go as a business.

Flake Cupcakes by Lulubelles Cakes

Is it just you or do you have a team?

Lulubelle’s is mostly just me, however I have a few people I regularly call on to help me out at busy times both in the kitchen and delivering – the support of good friends and family is crucial for a young business!

What type of cakes do you make?

Lulubelle’s main business is cupcakes, but we do a full range of bespoke cakes and goodies from giant cupcakes to sculpted cakes, iced cookies and Cake Balls!

Cupcakes by Lulubelles Cakes

What sets Lulubelle’s Cakes apart from other cake makers?

It would be easy to say quality and service, but I imagine most cake companies will say the same! So, how about the fact that we do over 40 flavours of cupcake, are always up for a challenge and offer free local delivery?

Nonsuch Mansion

Getting to Know – Nonsuch Mansion

Nonsuch Mansion Logo

Interview With: Julie Gray

Venue Name: Nonsuch Mansion

Website: www.nonsuchmansion.com

Location: Nonsuch Park, Cheam, Surrey – about half an hour from London

What type of venue is Nonsuch Mansion and how old is the building?

That’s an interesting question! The main part of the mansion was built in the late seventeen hundreds, during the reign of George IV. It was home to wealthy merchant Samuel Farmer and five further generations of his family until it was given to the public in the 1930’s. The foundations of the building are much, much older, from a keepers lodge that was part of the fabulous, ‘unequalled’ palace that was built here 500 years ago by King Henry VIII. The palace itself was ruined centuries before the mansion was built but we like to think that the spirit of Nonsuch lives here. The Tudor Gothic architecture was designed by Jeffrey Wyatt as an echo of its majestic predecessor. Nonsuch Mansion has been many things over the centuries and has always held a cherished place in the heart, memory and daily life of the whole community.

Nonsuch Mansion

What can a couple expect from having their wedding at Nonsuch Mansion?

Their own mansion for the day, exclusively theirs. We only ever hold one wedding at a time. Bovingdons (the caterers) have twenty two years experience of London weddings and we know how to tailor-make your day to your specifications.

What is the capacity for a wedding ceremony and wedding reception at Nonsuch Mansion?

Two of the staterooms are licensed for ceremonies; the Orchid Room for 130 guests and the Rose Room for 80 guests. For the reception the entire mansion can hold up to 250 reception style or 120 for dinner but there is also the option of a marquee on the lawn for anything up to 1000.
