A Wedding with Geometric Details and Colourful Florals

What happens when a very talented wedding planner and floral designer gets married? An explosion of colour and incredible flowers is what happens! Terri didn’t want her wedding to look like her ‘work’, so she went all out and created such an awesome wedding full of colourful florals and modern geometric details.

I’m a big flower lover, so when I saw the pictures of this wedding with its plethora of bright, fun flowers I fell in love. I’m also a big fan of the gold geometric trend, and I think the combination of the two styling elements works so well.

Most of the styling details were handmade by the couple and their friends and family (they have some very talented people in their lives!), and a fabulous industrial venue gave them a blank canvas to style as they wished. Of course, florals are the main focal features of the wedding styling, from the beautiful displays on the tablescapes to the pretty suspended florals in cool handmade gold geometric structures. Terri also created a really cool floral arrangement for the awesome gold geometric wall hanging on the front of the bar.

The fabulous colours shine through every detail of this wedding, from the flowers to the tablescapes, and also Terri’s fabulous wedding dress with its amazing teal petticoat layer!

Seriously, you will love the details of this wedding, so enjoy these pictures captured by Sarah Eubank Photography.

Colourful and Intimate

“As a wedding planner and floral designer our wedding HAD to feel different to any other wedding; I didn’t want it to feel like “work”. I wanted it to be colourful, full of personal touches, unexpected surprises, and very intimate.

“We surprised our guests with a pre-ceremony cocktail hour. It was so much fun greeting our guests and seeing their faces as, “gasp”, they saw the bride before the ceremony, in a sparkly cocktail dress of course. Guests nibbled on the biggest and yummiest cheese display and enjoyed peach bourbon mules from the custom bar my dad built. An artist did a live painting that was later placed inside our handmade string art frame that served as the guest book. Besides saying “I do”, the cocktail hour was probably my favourite part of the entire day as we were truly able to be in the moment and spend time with our guests.”

Wedding Dress Surprises

“My mother made most of my clothing as a child and all my prom dresses, so it was only fitting that she made the most important dress I will ever wear. We couldn’t find a pattern for the dress I had envisioned so we improvised and basically made it with no pattern! Since we were coming up with the dress design from scratch we had a little fun and added a teal crinoline.

“I wasn’t a super traditional bride so I chose not to wear a veil, but I did follow the tradition of having something old (my maternal grandmother’s broach on my shoulder), new, borrowed (my paternal grandmother’s handkerchief) and blue. As a surprise, my mum added to this tradition by sewing something ‘imaginary’ and ‘true’ into the lining of my dress. The ‘imaginary’ item was a tiny Barbie mirror from my childhood to remind me that I was finally living the fairytale I had imagined for so long. The ‘true’ item was my mother’s engagement ring to always remind me that true love exists; she and my dad are living proof of that love. Luckily she revealed these things to me the day before the wedding because there were some tears.

“To keep things intimate and focused on our union we opted to not have a bridal party. This allowed us to have a unique circular setting for the ceremony in the courtyard. It was so special to have our guests surrounding us and see their faces and reactions as we became husband and wife. Many of the guests commented on how wonderful it was for them to experience our ceremony that way too.”

Geometric Wedding Details

“In keeping with our desire to have a wedding full of personal touches, I spent the months before our wedding designing and crafting almost every detail of the day with my family, talented friends and wedding planning team.

“My dad, a very talented welder and carpenter, handmade all the hanging geometric decor, the cake stand and our custom bar. The daughter of our friend designed the beautiful chalkboard bar sign, crafted a geometric wall hanging to embellish the bar front, and painted the beautiful piece of artwork for our guest book live during our cocktail hour.”

Stunning, Colourful Florals

“I crafted string art table numbers, hand-lettered escort display and a frame that served as our guest book. My sister-in-law and friend made homemade gourmet Rice Krispie treat favours (since my new last name is Rice). I also worked closely with my floral design team to design our stunning, colourful florals.

“The reception space was filled with colourful florals, candlelight, delicious food, conversation, laughter, and dancing. As a florist I particularly loved all the flowers! When it came time to choose the blooms for my wedding it was difficult, so I pretty much chose them all!

“Geometric gold candle holders, brightly coloured blooms, lots of candles, and pops of teal in the napkins and table numbers adorned the tables. Gold geometric shapes and chandeliers embellished with blooms hung above the tables creating a whimsical feel to the room. We created a hanging wire and floral installation over the top table to continue the string art and geometric theme. We now use a lot of the geometric décor throughout our home which reminds us of our wedding day!”

Fun and Exciting Day

“The day was truly magical and felt nothing like work because of my amazing team and wonderful vendors that made it happen. Friends and family are still talking about what a fun and exciting day it was. The unanimous favourite was the surprise pre-ceremony cocktail hour. The only thing I would change about the day would be to make it a weekend long event – it was soo much fun.”
