As well as the amazing tablescape, the creative team styled a Christmas wonderland in other parts of the Christmas tree farm which adds to the magic of these styling ideas.

I hope these magical winter wedding ideas make you feel fabulously festive!

Battenfeld’s Christmas Tree Farm

“One of the greatest things about living in the North East is the changing seasons – it allows us creative types to have fun with Mother Nature’s revolving backdrop. Cutting your own Christmas tree is a big Hudson Valley attraction, and we are fortunate to have one of the country’s oldest tree farms in our backyard. Battenfeld’s Christmas Tree Farm, a family run business, has been providing fresh cut trees since 1956. What better place to host a winter shoot than on a Christmas tree farm that has for decades been celebrating the most wonderful time of the year?

“The colour palette had to be rich yet natural. We wanted it to feel like the holidays but not scream Merry Christmas. Ruby red, evergreen and winter white with natural wood tones felt like a classic holiday card straight from Currier and Ives.

“The night before the shoot it snowed eight inches in Red Hook, NY, so we all woke to a winter wonderland. When we arrived on site, the evergreens greeted us like stoic soldiers with a perfect carpet of white under their wooden feet.”

Winter Wedding Table Styling

“Upon arrival to the reception, greetings from a winter mannequin with stole and pearls, adorned with tea stained escort cards in gold calligraphy. Farm tables were set with bone china and fashioned down a balsam tree aisle. We then filled in with the finest wares – vintage silver flatware along with crystal glass in gem colours. We adorned mixed wooden chairs with plaid blankets and quilts to keep guests warm. Endless evergreen and eucalyptus roping ran down the centre of the table over a linen runner, and brass candlesticks with cream candles added an extra layer of metal.

“Tailgating and horse drawn rides are a must when cutting down your tree! A 1940 Studebaker truck made the perfect tailgate, and a perfect chalkboard wedding timeline added to the styling. Fur pillows, skis, sledges and blankets made it feel like you could hang out all afternoon.”

Toasty Bride

“Our bride’s gown had pockets to keep her hands warm, and a red and black buffalo flannel shirt and mink stole kept our bride toasty. her glorious red rose crown was the star of the show, and the bouquet was just as dreamy. Mixed winter greens, juniper berries and pheasant feathers gave a woodsy look.

“We gave our groom a relaxed look, ready to cut down a tree, with lined cargo pants, flannel shirt, jacket and warm scarf. His deer buttonhole pin couldn’t have been any more fitting.”

Vintage Lounge

“We created a stunning vintage lounge in the barn where they tie and wrap cut trees for travelling home. A cream couch, green velvet chair and vintage trunk with lots of plaid with furs made for a warm and cosy setting.

“The wedding cake was the most amazing edible winter piece. Realistic stump base, cosy cable knit sweater topped with a naked chocolate tier.

“A bonfire with s’mores station and hot cocoa is a must at any outdoor winter gathering, along with ribbon candy, candy canes and the most adorable winter shaped sugar cookies.”

A Warm Glow

“Beautiful Edison bistro lighting gave a warm glow from above. We ended the night with our couple decorating a Christmas tree with white lights and vintage decorations.

“This shoot was nothing less than a creative’s dream. Working in 35 degree weather, doing what we love, is a testament to all the professionals. The magical snow Mother Nature provided us was a beautiful gift we will always remember too.”
