A Vintage Styled Wedding Shoot at Pincents Manor

Today we are featuring some beautiful pictures, taken by Jo Richards Photography, from a vintage styled wedding shoot which took place at Pincents Manor in Calcot, Berkshire. Jo Richards, Andrea Fearon and Clare MacDonald of Digital Paper Studios styled the shoot, and inspired by current vintage trends, the shoot was created by utilising the skills and products of a group of wedding professionals from the Berkshire Wedding Community.

Included with the images are quotes from each of the suppliers regarding their involvement in the shoot…

“When the BWC decided upon a vintage theme for their collaboration I immediately thought of the typical 1940’s and 1950’s style of Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe; nude coloured eyes with plenty of eyeliner, teamed with the signature red lips. As with all wedding make-up it is essential to get the base just right, but with vintage make-up the skin has to be flawless. A light dusting of coral blush gives colour and softly complements a bride’s natural features.” Emma Rivers of Emma Rivers Bridal Make-up

“My hair ideas for our vintage inspired wedding shoot started off the same way as I approach a wedding hair trial for a bride. It is vital the hairstyle complements the style of gown and that the hairstyle works with the bride’s choice of accessories. For the longer vintage lace gown and beautiful birdcage veil I felt a more elegant, polished, vintage creation would be the perfect finishing touch to the overall look. My creation was based on a low chignon which was beautifully detailed with pin curls and Marcel effect waves. Because of the stunning birdcage veil I decided to keep the hairstyle simple around the front and work most of the detail at the sides and back, creating a beautifully elegant look with vintage inspired detail.

“For the vintage 1950’s style tea length wedding gown I thought it would be fun to do an almost giant side victory roll, and the beautiful hair accessory added a touch of elegance to the fun vintage hair creation.” Sarah Fuller, Hairdresser

“As the theme was vintage I obviously wanted to use some lovely old-fashioned ‘blousy’ flower varieties and create a tribute to times gone by. I chose rose varieties of Sweet Avalanche and antique rose Amnesia, along with gorgeous peonies, astilbe, waxflower, and of course good old-fashioned gypsophila. For a modern twist I included the sharp green viburnum and the delicate small leaf eucalyptus. I also chose to use some herbs, particularly rosemary which adds fragrance and interest. If I were getting married now, these are exactly the flowers I would choose!” Andrea Fearon, Florist

“Vintage to me conjures up images of exquisite lace, fragrant roses, creamy coloured pearls and muted tones of pinks, greens and china blue. I wanted my cakes to reflect these things, and after discussion with other members of BWC I decided dusky pink and cream cakes would perfectly complement the beautiful flowers, vintage crockery and yummy sweets also being displayed. My wedding cake was adorned with delicate vintage lace, strings of pearls and dainty roses interspersed between tiers. My cupcakes sat proudly in delicate filigree wrappers, again in dusky pink and cream with matching cute roses adorning the top of each one.” Jane Howell of Iced Gems By Jane

“For the shoot, I wanted to choose products that were delicate in colour and beautiful to look at, without compromising taste. Our floral heart lollies and rose chocolates were perfect for the shoot, and the marshmallow tree was inspired by the beautiful roses chosen by Andrea Fearon for her floral displays. The chocolate button flower buds were chosen as decorative pieces for the overall dessert table.” Kelly Bridle of Sweetalicious

“Vintage weddings…pretty pastel colours, lace, sugar-coated almonds, roses, china teacups, decoupage invitations…we had a host of charming ideas for the photo shoot. My challenge was how to encompass all of these wonderful ideas and come up with a beautiful, timeless yet themed manicure. As you can imagine, there are hundreds of different colours to choose from, but once I knew the design and details of the dresses, I decided to go with a neutral varnish by OPI, aptly named ‘Mimosas for Mr and Mrs’, with lace nail art for a twist on the classic French manicure for Sophie. On Abi’s nails, I used one of CND Shellac’s pretty new Spring polishes, ‘Cake Pop’ – sweet pink, cream icing, feminine and chic.” Lisa Sumner of White Orchid Beauty

“I wanted to create authentic looking vintage inspired accessories for the photo shoot. I looked at traditional embroidery techniques, and combining hand embroidery with original vintage handmade crochet doilies and lace, I created accessories using a very vintage colour palette. The ring cushion, chair sash clips and table number embroidery hoop all used a hand satin stitch and various other hand stitches for embellishment, whilst the favour bags and bunting used free motion machine embroidery for a vintage look. I even created free motion machine embroidery flowers on soluble fabric to give a three-dimensional effect to the sash clips.” Jo Richards of Indigo Sage

“I wanted to produce a selection of beautiful yet simple paper pieces, with a vintage touch to them. I used simple decorative lace and doilies to embellish the stationery, and used some beautiful vintage papers to add colour and pattern. The mix of vintage frame shapes and different vintage papers complemented the mismatched crockery and epitomise the vintage theme.” Clare MacDonald of Digital Paper Studios
