Back in October I was contacted by the team at Wedding Ideas, who asked me to join their panel of judges for the Wedding Ideas Awards 2012. I was over the moon at having been asked and couldn’t wait to receive information on the finalists. In December, once all the readers of Wedding Ideas Magazine had voted and each nominee had submitted an entry for the award, I (along with the other judges on the panel) was sent the details for the five finalists in each of the 16 categories. It was a really hard job going through all the information and finalists’ websites and then choosing my top three for each category as they were all amazing. Finally, once I had chosen my top three for each category, these were sent back to Wedding Ideas and then I, like everyone else, had to sit back and wait for the awards ceremony to find out who the winners were.
On Friday night I attended the Wedding Ideas Awards ceremony (now in its 7th year), held at The Brewery in London, and had the most amazing time. The awards ceremony was attended by 350 wedding industry professionals, and the whole place was buzzing with the anticipation of finding out the winners for each category.
The team at Wedding Ideas (aka The Herd and The Giraffes) created the perfect evening for everyone. With a cocktail reception (although none for me as I am sporting a ‘bump’!) and pictures taken on arrival, everyone had the chance to mingle and network before we all sat down to a scrumptious three course dinner. The after dinner entertainment was provided by the very funny Rob Deering, who then went on to present the awards with the lovely Rachel Southwood (Wedding Ideas founder and publisher).
I know you’re all waiting to hear the winners, so I’ll stop rambling on! These are the winners for each category of the Wedding Ideas Awards 2012. We are delighted to announce that some of the winners are part of The Wedding Community.

There was one special award on Friday night, The Special Achievement Award. This year’s winner was the wonderful Emma from Military Wedding Discounts.
Emma’s husband Noel is currently serving in Afghanistan. Military Wedding Discounts was created to help members of the Armed Forces in both the UK and USA save money when planning their wedding. They donate 50% of the advertising fee to charity – Help For Heroes (UK Suppliers) and Operation Gratitude (USA Suppliers). As Emma went up to collect this award there was a standing ovation from everyone in the room. Once she had collected the award, Wedding Ideas then played a video to Emma from her husband that he recorded before he went away, saying how proud he was of Emma and her achievements (I’m glad I had tissues at the ready as they were very much needed!)
Huge congratulations to each and every one of the winners, from everyone at The Wedding Community.
I’d also like to give a special mention to Crave Maternity and Olivier Laudus. As I’m pregnant I was at a loss as to what I could wear to the awards, so I was delighted when I was contacted by Crave Maternity, asking if I would like to wear one of their beautiful maternity dresses; how could I say no. I chose Crave’s Black Embellished Maxi Dress which I wore with the beautiful Rebecca Sunburst Flower Necklace and Earring Set from Olivier Laudus. I felt like a million dollars and would like to thank Crave Maternity and Olivier Laudus for making me feel so special.
